Prepare for Halloween with awesome wines

Why should the kids have all the fun?  With the leaves turning colors and beginning to fall, Halloween is almost here.  You can try five wines that will keep you warm inside even though there is a chill in the air outside.  For this tasting we will explore five high quality wines.  Some are dry and full bodied others are light and sweet.  If you enjoy learning about wine you are in for a treat.  You won’t see these wines in your local grocery store.

Take one home with you and be ready when the kids start knocking.

Govone Moscato d’ Asti: Light, fresh and sweet.  This wine has effervescent bubbles and appealing sweet flavors of peaches, honey and pears. Even most red wine drinkers enjoy this pleasant wine.

Baracchi O’Lillo: This delicious “Super Tuscan” is from a region of Tuscany famous for the production of various grape types.  The wine is soft, smooth and abundant with rich dark fruit flavors and refined elegence.  It offers dark cherry, light red berries and hints of vanilla.

Armida Poizin:  From the powerful skull and bones label (think Husker Blackshirts) to the lengthy finish, this wine is a crowd pleaser.  Rich, dark berries, jasmine spice and vanilla with expressive flavors throughout the pallet. They call Poizin “the wine to die for.”  This is a perfect Halloween treat!

Naufragar Malvasia: If you have been searching for a sweet red wine that is not too sweet you found your wine.  This is a sweet, effervescent red wine with light bubbles and flavors of fresh raspberry, strawberry and cherry.

Montesole Lacryma Christi de Vesuvio:   In Italian it means “the tears of Christ of Vesuvio.” This wine comes from the hills surrounding one of the worlds most famous active volcanos Mount Vesuvius near Naples, Italy .  The wine is produced with a grape only found in this region and it has a unique flavor like no other wine.  Dark fruit, warm earth and unique and interesting flavors make this wine unique and memorable.
